Draft Letters to Legislators

I am a constituent and consumer. I am opposed to the NCB issues included within H.R. 1

As a constituent and consumer concerned about future access to quality home medical care, I am opposed to Medicare competitive bidding for durable medical equipment.

I know "competitive bidding" sounds good, but it's a misnomer. What it will do is eliminate competition, wipe out many small businesses and leave the lowest bidder to provide the health-care products and services that thousands of patients rely on daily.

In particular I ask that you stand in opposition to H.R. 1, which includes a provision for competitive bidding (versus S. 1, which does not). This bill will limit my access to quality care.

It is my understanding that Congress believes this new "competitive bidding" system will save money. Many experts doubt that because of the administrative bureaucracy that will be necessary to handle the bidding process. Please, please oppose any legislation that includes "competitive bidding" for such vital services.

Sincerely,
